Tips
Since our user group is being held at our headquarters this year, we don’t have the traditional room block you need to book through. Luckily, Stowe is filled with amazing hotels and motels.
Over the 5+ years I’ve been with Inntopia I’ve stayed at a different hotel every time I’ve visited the office. To date, that’s over 15 hotels in the area. Here are 10 of my favorites places to rest your head in Stowe (in no particular order).
How could I not include the Trapp Family Lodge? One of the most famous landmarks in the area, it’s also one of the most popular (for good reason). Truth be told, despite visiting the property a number of times I’ve never stayed overnight. But with their new disc golf course and my love for slinging discs, it’s next on my list.

A classic choice for visiting Stowe when you’re looking for a nice (but not budget-breaking) stay, is Topnotch. If you attended our 2017 user group you would have stayed here. With great dining and beautiful rooms, it’s hard to beat. However, located 3.5 miles further up Mountain Road from our office, it’s a little further away than other options.

Located right on the main intersection in downtown Stowe, Green Mountain Inn is steps away from some breakfast options, shopping, the ski museum, and more. It has a great restaurant of it’s own and comfy rooms. It’s a classic place to stay in Stowe. At under a mile (0.8) from Inntopia HQ, walking is doable if you’re the ambling type.

The name has changed along with the property, but only for the better. I stayed here in 2018 and loved the vibe, the lobby, and the rooms. From what I’ve heard, they’ve made even more great changes since then. You’re also only a quarter mile from the event and a half mile from downtime if you want some walkability.

Located just a few hundred yards from the office, Grey Fox Inn doesn’t look like much from the road but it’s one of my favorites because it’s a short 3-5 minute walk to the office and the property is right on the Stowe rec path and a. A large lawn behind the inn leads right to miles of scenic jogging or walking.

Want to stay somewhere with a little history? Bluebird Cady Hill (formerly known as Golden Eagle Resort) is not only a great little motel just down the road from HQ, it was also Inntopia’s first client a couple decades ago! The property is lovely, the rooms have recently been redone, and the rates are usually great if you’ve got a tighter budget.

Another downtown option, Butler House is a quintessential Stowe lodging experience of the lot. Right downtown across from the church, this home-turned-hotel has lovely rooms and a great breakfast. Just don’t stay in the Parlor Suite or you’ll find a possibly noisy breakfast crew getting started early in the morning right outside your window.

Who doesn’t like a little bowling or mini-golf? Well, Sun & Ski has both as well as comfy, updated rooms and a nice little breakfast. It’s just under a mile from the office, across the street from the rec path, and, thanks to a super-friendly front desk staff, my stay here left me with nothing to complain about.

Across the street is the larger, and often more popular, Stoweflake Mountain Resort. If Sun & Ski is for the more young at heart, Stoweflake makes you feel a little classier and more important without changing your budget. It’s a great property that’s really close to lots of restaurants and such.

This property is another that I haven’t (yet) had the pleasure of enjoying first hand, but this recently opened property is managed by the same company as Field Guide and early reviews are fantastic.

There are many other fabulous lodging options in the Stowe area and, honestly, it’s pretty hard to go wrong. Most everything has been renovated in recent years and, if not, the review online will point those out pretty quick.
If you haven’t snagged you’re tickets yet for Insight365, we’ve only got 100 available and they’re going quick.
And we’ll see you in September!
