Tour operator and wholesaler, Ski Daddy, has partnered with Inntopia to sell lodging, lift tickets, and other activities, thus expanding their target market and making their sales operations more efficient.
Ski Daddy is a travel wholesaler that coordinates over 200 group ski trips each year to resorts in Colorado, Utah, and New Mexico.
“We get a lot of referrals, and quite a bit of search traffic,” said Ski Daddy owner, Mike DiLeo. “We’d like to be able to target those people that aren’t necessarily traveling with a group, and Inntopia is the key piece of technology we needed to make that happen.”
Currently, Ski Daddy books group travel directly through partner resorts. This works well for large groups, as it allows them to offer pricing and services that travelers can’t find on their own. But it is not as efficient for smaller groups, such as a family of four traveling together.
With Inntopia, Ski Daddy will allow partner resorts—Winter Park, Crested Butte, Breckenridge, and Copper at launch—to manage inventory, pricing, and packaging for Ski Daddy directly through Inntopia’s supplier dashboard. Travelers will then be able to book travel at exclusive Ski Daddy rates without leaving skidaddy.com.
“Our business is weather dependent, and one thing you see is that when group business is strong, the FIT [individual] side lags, and vice versa. We see this as not only an expansion into a new part of the market, but also as a way to diversify so that we can succeed and grow even when demand is fluctuating across those segments,” said DiLeo.
Ski Daddy is one of several group-travel wholesalers and tour operators to have recently partnered with Inntopia to let them sell travel to non-group customers more easily.
“Inntopia Commerce is a versatile platform,” said Inntopia CEO, Trevor Crist. “We built it to help resorts simultaneously sell lodging and activities by tying together all these different computer systems. Now, other parts of the industry are realizing that they can use that same feature set—connecting different computer systems—to solve their own business problems and better serve their customers. We couldn’t be more excited to work with people such as Mike and Ski Daddy to see what’s possible in this space.”
Inntopia allows resorts to connect their lodging, skiing, golf, and other software systems into one-stop shopping carts, automated email marketing, and powerful business intelligence. Built to solve the complex challenges of the destination resort, Inntopia’s software and expert consulting are now used by every corner of the travel industry.
Inntopia’s Commerce platform lets customers book their whole vacation package in one step—either online or over the phone—including lodging, tee times, lift tickets, activities, spa, and transportation. It does this by connecting to the other software systems used by destination businesses to access inventory, pricing, and customer data in real time. Its one-stop shopping experience (through call-center software and a responsive, web-based booking engine) increases advance bookings, online bookings, revenue per transaction, and conversion rates.
