News Inntopia Dev and Bug Update: Pedal to the Metal

It’s been a very busy spring at Inntopia headquarters. We just finished up our first official eight-week Agile Product Increment (PI) of 2016 and are happy to share our significant progress.

Over the last eight weeks, our dev team has reduced 35% of our bug backlog. While we’re excited to have made some headway in this regard, we know that we’ve still got plenty more to do. We are fresh into PI2 and expect to tackle 20 fairly labor-intensive bugs over the next eight weeks. We’re prioritizing them based on a tough equation measuring the severity of the bug against the implications to the entire partner base and system at large. Getting to all bugs is important to us and we are working to be as efficient and fair as possible to the entire partner community.

In each Product Increment, we are challenged to evenly allocate our current resources across a balanced mix of partner-specific custom development, bug fixes, and Inntopia roadmap items. We continue to search for the best developers out there while being very selective in our hiring process.

During the rest of 2016, nearly 50% of our capacity will be spent on new custom development. Toward the end of the year, we plan to spend more dev time on our roadmap items. Until then, we’ll be heads down working on our bug backlog and custom dev items…both of which will benefit the entire partner base.

We’ll be looking for efficiencies throughout the remainder of the year which includes working on bugs and development items simultaneously when it makes sense to do so. We subscribe to the idea of not just patching the water line while the ground is already dug up and will be looking at the whole picture when planning our work.

There’s a long and exciting piece of road in front of us, and a big list of places to visit along the way. We’re confident that we’ll get to our destination with all of you while being sure that we spend enough time at each point of interest on our journey.

Thanks so much to all of you for your partnership.
