Out of ideas for 4th of July vacation? Try these five awesome places!

Enjoy the old 4th of July parade that travels down Main Street starting at 11 a.m. Then, experience the annual 4th of July picnic at Koch park. The Aspen Music Festival’s free concert begins at 4 p.m. in the Benedict Music Tent, followed by “dancing in the streets” where the main streets of Aspen are shut down to host the free community street dance. Take a 20-minute intermission to relish Aspen’s firework extravaganza over Aspen mountain.

Screen Shot 2016-06-07 at 1.38.44 PMTelluride – Start off the day with the 4th of July parade and Firefighter Barbeque, where the whole town is invited to dine, play in the park, and enjoy the sunshine. Then, as the sun sets over the San Jan Mountains, the firefighters shoot off the fireworks for the amazing, historic firework display from just above town park making for a show that you can see from almost anywhere in town. Enjoy the show from a cozy blanket in the park, enjoying a cocktail on main street, or even from the top of the Gondola!

 

  1. Screen Shot 2016-06-08 at 10.04.09 AMKillington – Don’t pass up this eastern ski resort! Killington puts on a fabulous, traditional 4th of July celebration every year. The day kicks off with a book sale at 9 a.m. on River Road, followed by the parade at 10 a.m. The barbeque, along with fun-filled games and entertainment take up most of the afternoon. Bring a picnic blanket and be prepared to stay all day long! The breathtaking fireworks display closes out the night starting at 9:30 p.m.

 

 

  1. Screen Shot 2016-06-07 at 1.51.16 PMSteamboat Springs – For more than 100 years, Steamboat Springs, Colorado has celebrated Independence Day in true western fashion. Start off the day by watching a classic hometown parade that ends in a big street dance party. Events such as the Pro Rodeo Series and Pioneer Day Block party (which features a free concert and Routt Beer Floats) will keep you having fun. After the rodeo, stay in your seat and watch one of the biggest firework shows in Colorado.

 

  1. Screen Shot 2016-06-08 at 10.07.31 AMCrested Butte – Crested Butte combines a celebration of music, food, races, fireworks, and fun for a fantastic 4th of July experience. Kick things off on the 4th with a pancake breakfast hosted by the Crested Butte Fire and EMS department. Check out the food vendors, parade, and kids carnival throughout the day. Then enjoy an outdoor concert and fireworks at the mountain resort.
